In Patterns, learners generate a number pattern that follows a given addition or subtraction rule. They will develop their reasoning and problem solving skills by figuring out the rule for an incomplete pattern and then solving it.
Students use what they have learned about creating equivalent fractions to add fractions with different denominators. They learn that in order to add fractions with unlike denominators, they first make equivalent fractions with the same denominators.
We’ve added three sample learning pathways for you and your students to enjoy! Explore interactive resources for 1st Grade and 3rd Grade, that use visual modeling and problem solving.
